Dairy Farmers of Nova Scotia had to alter its milk collection arrangements across the province immediately following the July 10 work stoppage at Farmers Dairy in Bedford.

DFNS General Manger Brian Cameron said, since DFNS licenses the five milk transport companies, including the idled Farmers Dairy trucks, to do on-farm milk collection "we have contracted with the other companies to pickup what would ordinarily be picked up by Farmers."

He said July 26 that DFNS was relying on the other four companies that had responded by expanding their routes to cover the farms that ship to Farmers. "As a milk marketing board our number one objective is to ensure the timely pickup of milk at the farms."
