Local Food Award winners

Winners of the 2010 Spirit Nova Scotia Local Food Award were announced Aug. 22 at the IncrEdible Picnic in Dartmouth.

The winners were:

Producer Category: Taproot Farm

Non- profit Category: Lunenburg Farmers Market

Business Category: Ellora Natural & Organic Foods

Dr. Ralph Martin, Director of the Organic Agriculture Centre of Canada and Spirit Nova Scotia Local Food Committee Chair, said, “Thankfully, each year we hear more people talking about local food and these awards are an opportunity to recognize those who not only talk but act to make local food more accessible for all Nova Scotians.”

The awards are co-sponsored by Spirit Nova Scotia and Select Nova Scotia.
