Youth organization hands out annual awards

The best and brightest in the 4-H movement on P.E.I were honoured recently during the group’s annual awards banquet.

There were about 130 people in attendance to see all the hardware being handed out.

Some of the highlights from the awards included:

Thirty five volunteers received certificates of appreciation, acknowledging between five and 30 years of service to the organization. Two leaders, Gwen Thompson of Charlottetown and David Younker of Cornwall, were given a standing ovation when they received their certificates for 35 years of service.

The P.E.I. Women’s Institute 4-H Agriculture Awareness Project Award was presented to the Wheatley River 4-H Club.

The Millview-Vernon River 4-H Club was chosen as the winner of the 2015 Brookville Lime Community Project Club Award.

Fiona Steele. Of Horsin’ Around 4-H Club, received the Charlie Goodwin Memorial Top Horse & Pony 4-H Member Award

The P.E.I. Women in Agriculture 4-H Leader Recognition Award was presented to Monique Bernard-Kinch of the Evangeline 4-H Club.

Wheatley River 4-H Club member Marlee Gregory was awarded the Callbeck’s Home Building Centre Top Member Award in recognition of her exceptional work with the organization in general.

The Top 4-H Livestock Member Award was received by Dominique Arsenault of the Evangeline 4-H Club.
