Ottawa, Ontario - Canadas first national marketing agency has changed its name to Egg Farmers of Canada.
The Canadian Egg Marketing Agency began operating in 1972 and was followed by national agencies for turkeys, then chickens and hatching eggs.
We didn't make this change on our own. We did research across Canada to find out what consumers thought about the organization that represents egg farmers, says chairman Laurent Souligny.
What we found was that people wanted us to highlight the fact that we are farmers, we are Canadian and we are dedicated to quality, he said.
We listened to our consumers and we got cracking, he said, echoing the most popular advertising phrase the national agency and provincial boards have used.
The agency has also moved to 21 Florence Street, Ottawa, a building owned jointly with the Dairy Farmers of Canada, the Canadian Federation of Agriculture and the Canadian Hatching Egg Producers.
The agency also changed its website to www.eggs.ca and e-mail addresses to end with eggs.ca.
I look forward to all of us experiencing the next chapter in our history, said Souligny.
