Ottawa, Ontario - The Canadian Pork Council has cut its board of directors by 39 per cent from 18 to 11.
It is also moving its offices here to five blocks west of Parliament Hill to Suite 900 at 220 Laurier Avenue West.
And it has a new corporate logo.
"This announcement represents a fresh perspective and an enhanced commitment to the Canadian swine industry," said council president Jurgen Preugschas of Mayerthorpe, Alberta.
"We are excited about the revitalization that is taking place at the CPC and know that the changes will provide a more collaborative working environment for our members," said chief-of-staff Martin Rice.
Under the 188-person board, which met twice a year, most of the work was done by an executive that met every four to six weeks.
Some provinces lose members under the new setup, which is one for New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island, two each for Quebec, Ontario and Manitoba and one each for Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia.
The province thats home to the chairman comes gets an additional member, which in this case is Alberta.
