Spencer fined in Ontario court

Carl Spencer, recently appointed a director of Farm Credit Canada, and his employee, Laura Shultz, have been fined in provincial court in Owen Sound, Ontario for issues related to marketing maple syrup.

Carl Spencer, recently appointed a director of Farm Credit Canada, and his employee, Laura Shultz, have been fined in provincial court in Owen Sound, Ontario for issues related to marketing maple syrup.
Spencer was fined $350 for illegally marketing maple syrup in a 1.14-litre used whiskey bottle. That happened at the Keady Auction Market on June 2.
Laura Shultz, who was in charge of the booth that day, was fined $195 for obstructing an inspector who was trying to collect maple syrup samples
Spencer is well known to cattlemen in Ontario and was recently appointed by federal Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz to the board of directors of Farm Credit Canada.
