But Atlantic Gold has applied to the province to expropriate land in Moose River, some of it owned by the Higgins’.

According to the Chronicle-Herald, over the next decade the company (a division of Australia’s DDV Gold) plans to mine close to a billion dollars of gold from two Moose River locations.

The newspaper quoted a Higgins family representative saying they valued the (proposed) mine site property at $300,000 but it was not for sale.

Nova Scotia Natural Resources Minister Charlie Parker said Atlantic Gold’s vesting order to expropriate the land is being given careful consideration.
