Firefighters respond to blaze in East Stewiacke area

 [East Stewiacke, NS]- It took multiple fire departments to contain a forest fire in the East Stewiacke (Nova Scotia) area late Monday afternoon (July 23).

The blaze was reported at about 4 p.m. between Cloverdale and Lanesville roads and required at least four fire departments to respond. Upper Stewiacke fire chief Randy O'Connell told the Truro Daily News there were also two helicopters deployed by the Department of Natural Resources.

By press time on Monday night, preliminary information indicated the fire affected a "couple of acres" of land and the cause had not been determined by mid-evening.

There were no injures reported.
