After a two-year investigation, the Island Regulatory and Appeals Commission ruled that three Irving-owned companies had violated Prince Edward Islands Lands Protection Act (LPA).

Under the LPA, a company cannot own or lease over 3000 acres of land in the province.

Island Holdings did not reveal it owned 1649 acres in 2005 and received the maximum fine$10,000. Cavendish Agri-Services and Simmac Packaging were fined a total of $3,000.

Irving must now file accurate land holding disclosures by July 3 or face $500/day fines.
