The word Charlottetown adorns a lot of buildings and public properties in the (Prince Edward Island) capital, and now it also adorns a sheep.

Well, a lamb to be exact.

Mike Sorenson of Pony Parties and Petting Zoos in Fredericton, N.B., decided to name his new lamb Charlotte because it was born in the city during the Jack Frost WinterFest.

Wide-eyed spectators watched Saturday (Feb. 14) as Molly, one of the sheep at the Jack Frost petting zoo at the Charlottetown Civic Centre, gave birth to the bouncing baby girl, complete with snow-white fur.

The delivery went without a hitch.

The new delivery became an instant hit with long lines of kids and adults alike waiting to see Charlotte.

Its a big attraction here, said Sorenson, who began the petting zoo business when he was 14, hes 25 now.

Parents and kids, they were amazed (to see the delivery). They took it as a bit of a life lesson.

Karen Sorenson, Mikes mom, was surprised by Mollys delivery because she was early. She said another sheep was expected to give birth to twins, so rather than leave her with inexperienced staff at home in New Brunswick, they decided to take her to the Jack Frost festival.

But as of Sunday (Feb. 15) night, there were no twinsjust little Charlotte who was staying close to her mom, Molly.

This is the first time the Sorensons had a delivery on location. The Guardian
