To ensure quality seed production the Prince Edward Island Potato Board has asked the province to increase the virus cap to six per centdouble the 2009 level.

According to Island Farmer, this year growers selling on the boards website will list their seed and its post-harvest potato leaf roll virus and PVY test results.

General Manager Greg Donald said this is one of the many measures the board is undertaking to prevent the need for seed importation and to deal with virus levels.
