An agreement on logging practices in Canada’s boreal forests has been reached between 21 of the country’s largest forestry companies and nine environmental groups.
They agreed to a three-year ceasefire in the public relations war on logging.
CP reported the forestry companies have agreed to stop logging in areas where wildlife and habitat is endangered. The environmental organizations acceded to halt their international campaigns criticizing them.
The boreal forest runs from Newfoundland to Yukon. The truce apparently covers 70 million hectares of forests in Ontario, Manitoba, Alberta and British Columbia.
