Back again at this year’s fair is the fall market in the Antoine Landry room at the reception centre; as well as the sale of preserves, vegetables, cookies, wool, and other items at the Robin shed, both beginning at 10 a.m. on both days.
There will be an auction of livestock and products of all kinds from the farm and workshops of the Village Historique Acadien again this year. The auction will begin at 1:30 p.m. at the Frenette Post House (Post House I), with two well-known emcees, Jean-Claude Doiron and Dominique Breau.
Breakfast will be served from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday in the Antoine Landry room and will include the traditional black pudding, a delicacy in Acadie. Molasses cake and corn on the cob will be served free of charge starting at 11:30 a.m. at the Frenette Post House. Traditional music will be played for all to enjoy.
Open since 1977, the Village Historique Acadien strives to portray the lives of Acadians from 1770 to 1949. Interpreters in period costume who bring the ancestral customs and traditional trades back to life staff more than 40 original buildings.
An agricultural fair package is available for $22, which includes admission to the site on Saturday and Sunday and breakfast on Saturday morning.
