[Truro, NS] – The eighth annual Wild Blueberry Harvest Festival begins this weekend (Aug. 18-19).
This year 25 communities will host over 60 events during the 15-day celebration.
The festival kicks-off Friday with a wild blueberry jam from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on the rooftop of the Marigold Cultural Centre in Truro (Nova Scotia).
The kick-off will include a musical performance by fiddler Julie Johnstone, the ever-popular celebrity pie-eating contest, Moe’s Paws for Fun dog agility demo, wild blueberry crisp and fresh berries for sale, a bouncy house and fun for the kids, a prize draw for two $250 downtown Truro shopping sprees and more.
Also at the kick-off learn about all of the scrumptious wild blueberry events happening throughout the festival including community picnics, dinners, teas, breakfasts, dessert parties, farmers markets, live concerts, u-picks, quilt shows, wild blueberry raking and pie eating contests, processing tours and more!
